When you digitally interact with or call certain companies, Payfone may verify your identity on behalf of those companies to help prevent fraud using personal information you may provide to those companies, such as full name, mobile telephone, or a partial Social Security Number. We use secure APIs to promptly process and discard information transmitted to us as part of the authentication and identification process.
If you are a resident of the European Union, you may have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) to correct inaccurate data, erase data or restrict its processing.
If you are a California resident, you may be entitled to opt out from having your personal information shared or used under California Civil Code Section 1798.83.
If you are a Nevada or California resident, you may be entitled to opt out of the sale of your personal information under Nevada Senate Bill 220 or the California Civil Code Section 1798.83, respectively.
If you want to submit a request to Payfone exercising one of the privacy rights explained above, we recommend that you first contact the company you interacted with that uses our services. If you submit a request to us directly, we may not be able to respond to your request without knowing the name of that company.
Payfone will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
If Payfone, on its own or in collaboration with the company, is able to successfully delete your information in response to your request, be aware that the information may be processed by us again in the future if you interact with one of our clients and re-accept terms that include this type of processing.
Please also note that in addition to helping to protect you against fraud, Payfone’s services make it easier and more convenient for you to interact with companies online and in call centers. For example, instead of having to answer cumbersome security questions or type in pincodes or passcodes (which can be easily intercepted by fraudsters), Payfone’s services allow you to be quickly and securely authenticated via mobile technology, enabling you to complete business online and in call centers in a more expedited way. By opting out, you may lose access to these VIP benefits.
